To answer what the letter "K" means on the teddy bear Japanese erasers, it stands for the Japanese word "kuma". "Kuma" translates to "bear".

Wednesday, 07 July 2010

The 6 colors of the Iwako tree stumps will ship sometime in August. We had originally said they would be available in May. All 3 of you out there that have signed up for email notifications expecting a May delivery are going to have to wait a little longer. Sorry.

IIn addition to the stump stool Japanese erasers, Iwako is also producing log chair toy Japanese erasers in 6 colors. The log chair and stump stool
Japanese erasers are not entirely new Japanese erasers for Iwako. These furniture erasers are among the first toy erasers that Iwako made.

Mulmuone Korean Tofu Eraser
Wednesday, 07 July 2010

These erasers come from Korea. The package pictures a hot and spicy stew that contains tofu and seafood. The stew comes in a iron bowl and is served boiling hot. With the stew, comes a raw egg, which is cracked open and poured onto the stew. The heat cooks the egg and all is eaten together. The eraser package is just like that of what real tofu is often packaged in. The word "Mulmuone" near the top of the package is a take off of the real Korean multinational food company Pulmuone. They, among other US food companies, own Wildwood Organics, a producer of tofu and many other organic foods. The rest of the Korean script reads,"Happy Bean Eraser. This is a parody of an eraser. Do not eat. Erasers well".

They can be found in the 1 to 40 Erasers section.

The newly hatched dinosaur pencil topper Japanese eraser is one of the first erasers that Iwako made when they began making erasers.  The baby dinosaur eraser can be removed from it's egg and can be placed on top of pencil as well.

Since we are on the subject of cuteness, we must vote for the Iwako baby dino erasers as the most endearing of all 623 of Japanese erasers.

These pre-production samples of the cow animal erasers with a black lower body. They are not going to be made.

If you need to make your own, you can take a black and white cow and switch out the appropriate eraser parts to assemble one fo these animal erasers.

We know we should have taken these Iwako cow Japanese erasers against a white back round, but we did not.

Kabocha is a variety of Japanese winter squash that grows up to 8 pounds. The interior is a bright orange and is naturally sweet.  It is commonly used as an ingredient in vegetable tempura, soups and other side dishes.

Kabocha can also be found on one of the Korean tofu erasers in "None of the Above" eraser section as well in the Iwako Fruit, Vegetable and Garden section

The Only Way To Get Pink and Yellow Sunfish Japanese Erasers
Wednesday, 07 July 2010

The Japanese erasers in each Iwako eraser theme set always available as individual erasers. There is one exception to this rule. The yellow and pink sunfish animal erasers in the sea life Iwako eraser theme set are unique to the set and can not be had separately.

A few blue sunfish animal Japanese erasers do come in the Iwako assorted sea life master box. We sell out of these quickly and are out of stock most of the time.

Do You Like Your Tea And Coffee Japanese Erasers With Milk?
Tuesday, 06 July 2010

In the last shipment of the tea and coffee Japanese food erasers from Dream/Zeninsyoji, we received an old color combination that had been out of stock for quite a while.  The green and lavender Japanese eraser pair is once more available.

In that same shipment also came a different variation of the pink and yellow cup eraser. The older version, which of this writing we have a few left, had coffee and tea, both with milk. That eraser set is the middle picture. The new version, on the right, of this food eraser pair, has a red tea and perhaps tea with milk.

As we have said before, shipments from Dream/Zensinsyoji are always full of surprises. We are never sure what color variations we will get.
