Orao Cookie Erasers, Or is it Oreo Cookie Erasers?
Wednesday, 12 May 2010
The Orao cracker erasers are part of the 1 to 40 Erasers category. Each Orao package contains 2 stacks of vanilla scented cracker erasers.

Orao looks and sounds suspiciously like Oreo. Copycat products have a long history of this sort of imitation. Orao is different enough from Oreo to keep the attorneys at bay, but close enough to look like the real thing.

Iwako has done "copies" of Japanese food products as well and those can be found in the food section of sausalitoferry.com. The Iwako copy Japanese erasers are actually parodies of real food products in Japan. In previous posts, such as "We Apologize If This Soup Has Hardened". we have translations of what is written on the Japanese food eraser. Some of it is pretty funny.

Hey! What About Us Panda Erasers
Tuesday, 11 May 2010
We can tell by the analytics on the site, that almost all the interest is centered on the Japanese erasers. (Analytics, for those who do not know, is a way for us to see what you are looking at on sausalitoferry.com).  We agree with you that the Iwako and Dream/Zensinsyoji Japanese erasers are worth all the attention.

In the section 1 to 40 Erasers there are erasers that are distant cousins to their  Japanese eraser counterparts.  The pandas in the box are such erasers.
They do rate pretty high cutness factor, but they will always play second fiddle to both Iwako and Dream/Zensinsyoji Japanese erasers.

Put Your Tulips Together And You Stil Have Tulips
Monday, 10 May 2010
Dream/Zensinsyoji, the other manufacture of Japan es erasers is a delight for the collectors. From one shipment to the next form them, often the colors of their Japanese erasers will vary.

Dream/Zensinyoji color changes seem to occur because when the manufacturing takes place, they are not as careful to match to the previous color.  The sliced orange Japanese erasers is a good example. On last count, there were 3 versions.

In the most current shipment of the tulip Japanese erasers, we got a pink version of the 3 tulip erasers.  Now there are 3 color versions of the tulip Japanese erasers.

Iwako Airlines Is Now The New Japanese National Carrier
Sunday, 09 May 2010
In the last week we have seen the release of Just Hatched Dinosaur Japanese erasers, 2 new colors of Iwako Penguin erasers and the Iwako Airplane Japanese erasers.  The week earlier we saw the arrival of the Iwako Teddy Bear Series 2 and the Iwako/BeGoody Pencils.

Lots and lots of new Japanese eraser goodies.

As we understand it, the Complete Series Sets will now move from mostly animal Japanese erasers to the Iwako food erasers. We do not know what Iwako food erasers will get the Compete Series treatment, but we did get the Cakes in 6 colors a couple of weeks ago.

We were hoping for green hot dog and pink buns.

6 X 10 Japanese Erasers Only Equals 6
Sunday, 09 May 2010
The question has been asked, why do all the Iwako Japanese erasers come in sets of 6?

The master boxes that Iwako ships, contains 60 Japanese erasers. By making the Complete
Series Sets in multiples of 6, the Japanese eraser breakdown works quite nicely for us online retailers to 10 Japanese erasers per style. So we get 6 Complete Series Sets per Iwako master box.

We are talking about Iwako only. Dream/Zensinyoji has recently adopted the 60 Japanese eraser box, but the assortments are not always 10 per style. For example, in the last shipment of the Table Grape Japanese food erasers from Dream/Zensinsyoji, we only got 4 of the Purple Table Grape Clusters and 10 of the Green Table Grape Clusters in the 60 Japanese food erasers in the box.  The rest were Light Purple Table Grape Japanese erasers. As you can see, we are out of stock of both the Purple and Green Table Grape Japanese erasers.

The complete series sets are a recently new product offering from Iwako. The older assortments do not have the neat and convenient distribution of 10 erasers per master box. If you go to the Iwako Japan site, you can see on their product page, they have breakdown of how many Japanese erasers of a particular style you get in the master box. It varies from series to series.

Japanese Eraser Penquins Of A Different Color
Sunday, 09 May 2010
Iwako has added 2 new colors to the 4 existing penguin Japanese erasers. Purple and fuchsia have been added and now there are 6 colors of Iwako Japanese penguin erasers.

We have found that when there is an older series of colors and then a couple of new colors of Japanese erasers are added, the new colors sell out quite quickly. Most of the collectors usually have the older color Japanese erasers in their collections and only need the newer colors.

If you notice in some places in sausalitoferry.com if there is a older color of a Japanese eraser, we will not include that Japanese eraser in the new complete series set, because we know that most of you will not want to purchase a Japanese eraser you already own.

Since we added the purple and fuchsia penguin Japanese erasers a couple days ago, we have been selling almost only these colors.

The Extinct Green Just Hatched Iwako Baby Dinosaur Eraser
Saturday, 08 May 2010
When we received our pre-production samples of the Iwako Just Hatched Baby Dinosaurs, included was a green dinosaur Japanese eraser.

When we received our shipment of erasers from Iwako earlier this week, much to our surprise, in place of the green dinosaur Japanese eraser, there was a yellow one.

We do like the green dinosaur Japanese eraser much better than the yellow.

Just When You Thought The Iwako Dinosaur Erasers Were Extinct
Saturday, 08 May 2010
We would argue that the Just Hatched Baby Dinosaur Japanese Erasers are among the cutest of the cute erasers that Iwako has made. Interestingly enough, this design is a much older animal eraser, that had been out of production for quite a while.

The Just Hatched Baby Dinosaur erasers can be had again. We are showing the complete set of the Iwako made erasers, but they can be bought individually as well.

Teddy Bears That Erase, Sharpen and Freshen the Air
Friday, 07 May 2010
The teddy bears have many
purposes. The bears are
made of eraser, so they can
be used to correct your
mistakes.
On the back of the teddy
bear, out of view, is a pencil
sharpener.
For those of you that do not
enjoy the scent of a freshly
sharpened pencil, the teddy
bears have a fruit scent.

Lots of Good Fish in the Sea
