Tuesday, 20 April 2010
For those of you who must have every version of Iwako and Dream/Zensinsyoji Japanese erasers, we have put together the Ultimate Sundae Japanese Eraser Set. www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php.

Set has different color variations. 2 different colors of the cups. The difference in color shade for the yellow cups is more distinctive than that of the pink cups.

The blue cup sundae Japanese erasers have 2 different colors of ice cream scoops.

Apple Bunny Japanese Erasers With Green And Red Ears
Monday, 19 April 2010
The Apple Bunny Japanese erasers by Dream/Zensinsyoji are a good example of tradtional Japanese food. www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php.  An apple is sliced in
a way in which the peel looks like rabbit ears. It is a good
way for a parent to get a young child to eat the whole apple

The Apple Bunny Japanese erasers are made by Dream/
Zensinsyoji, and we receive only a few in the master box
assortment. As usual, this means that we are mostly out of
stock of this Japanese food eraser.

Isumi Erasers Superstore
Sunday, 18 April 2010
Perhaps one of the extensive eraser blogs is Isumi Erasers Superstore www.isumi-eraser.com/Department%20Store%20H.htm.  The site is arranged like a multi floor department store.  Each floor contains different departments.

Isumi´s site has pictures of much older Iwako, Zensinsyoji and Seed Japanese erasers along with hundreds of assorted types of Chinese made erasers.

Packing Tape Japanese Eraser
Saturday, 17 April 2010
Rather than do real work, we were perusing other eraser websites and blogs. We must admit that our knowledge of Iwako and Dream/Zensinsyoji is extensive. Extensive to the point where we can make the most ardent 9 year old collector eyes glaze over with the details about the color variations of the Dream/Zensinsyoji Sliced Orange Japanese food erasers. www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php. We are always looking for something new and different.

We found Eriko Kusuta´s World, www.erikokusuta.com/eraser.html.  As in many of the erasers collector blogs, her site is full of obscure and fascinating erasers. The pictured packing tape eraser is the most interesting.

What Japanese Erasers We Are Out Of And Why
Friday, 16 April 2010

Iwako sends Japanese erasers in a 60 piece count master box. Some erasers come only one style per box, others come as assortments. The problem with the assortment eraser boxes is that some of the erasers are more desirable than others. Those more popular ones sell out quickly leaving Japanese erasers that are not so popular. Pictured are a few of those more popular ones.  The carrot Japanese eraser, www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php, the matcha flavored hot spring bun Japanese eraser,www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php and the red, white and blue basketball eraser, www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php.  Of the 3 Japanese erasers, the basketball is the most popular.  We have special ordered those and should have them in about 60 days. The carrot is the 2nd most popular, does not sell strongly enough to justify ordering the quantity that we need to special order. The matcha hot bun Japanese eraser appeals only to the most intense collectors. If we had sufficient inventory, we would still sell only a couple dozen of these food erasers during the year.

One Bird In The Hand May Or May Not Be Fuchsia
Thursday, 15 April 2010
Iwako is know for it´s color consistency in the Japanese erasers it produces. The colors do not vary from shipment to shipment and we can pretty much count on seeing the same color assortments in the complete erasers series sets from them.   The recent exception is the fuchsia bird Japanese animal eraser.  We saw this animal eraser in the bird assortment late this winter and in the next shipment we received about 3 weeks later it was gone.

The bird Japanese eraser set color assortment has always been a little odd. Currently, included in the set is 2 shades of pink. www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php and www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php.  The fuschia bird eraser is not included and for now is out of production.

We have come to expect this sort of color confusion from Dream/Zensinsyoji, but not Iwako. This is not a criticism, we love this sort of variation.

Hello Kitty Baker, Melopan, Hotdogs and Pizza
Wednesday, 14 April 2010
In the Hello Kitty/Iwako Japanese erasers series we just received,www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php, a couple of the combos include a Hello Kitty mascot baker figure holding yellow melopan bread loaf. Melopan is so named because of it´s resemblance to a cantaloupe.  The loaf is covered with a sweet cookie dough. www.sausalitoferry.com/index.php. Interestingly enough, the Hello Kitty Baker figure/Iwako Japanese eraser combo does not come with the 2 colors of melopan Japanese food erasers that Iwako makes but instead with pizza and hot dog food Japanese erasers.
