The Japanese word tenugui translates to “towel” or “rag”. Through the centuries tenugui was used any way that a strip of cloth could be used, be it a head scarf, belt or towel. The unfinished edges of the all-cotton fabric allowed easy tearing. It has now been lifted from its working class origins to an art medium. These tenugui are a mixture of Japanese traditional landscape aesthetic and the iconography of Star Wars. 100% cotton. 36” X 13”.
