Relive one of the most iconic and comedic chapters of Hergé’s The Land of Black Gold with this 1/24 scale model of the 1943 Desert Jeep Willys. The scene captures Tintin at the wheel, focused on navigating the treacherous Middle Eastern sands, while his passengers endure a series of bizarre and unfortunate mishaps. Beside him sits a miserable Dr. Müller, whose face is covered in black oil splotches from the grueling journey and whose head is inexplicably bald—the result of a disastrous "haircut" by the Thompsons that caused his hair to fall out in clumps.
The chaos continues in the back seat with Thomson and Thompson, who are suffering the vibrant side effects of consuming the mysterious Formula 14. Mistaking the chemical catalyst for aspirin, the detectives have developed bright green hair and beards that grow at a supernatural rate. To add to their plight, they are depicted mid-hiccup, belching out the signature green bubbles that accompany their "technicolor" medical condition.
Every detail of this high-quality metal and resin model is hand-painted to capture the contrast between Tintin’s determination and his companions' slapstick distress. The rugged, dusty aesthetic of the Willys Jeep serves as the perfect stage for this legendary moment of Tintin lore. The model comes housed in a clear display case (30cm long) and includes a bilingual booklet in English and French that delves into the history of the Willys Jeep and the specific role it played in the 1943 serialization of the story.
