In The Adventures of Tintin, The Crab with the Golden Claws, Tintin and Captain Haddock having escaped their imprisonment on the steamer Karaboudjan, find themselves clinging to a overturned life boat facing strafing from a yellow seaplane. Tintin with a handgun, squeezes off a lucky shot, forcing the plane down. Swimming over to the plane he takes control of the plane from the surprised pilots. This moment is captured by the diorama.
Made by Moulinsart, the plane is constructed of wood and the figures and base of cold cast resin. The wingspan is 15.5” and the plane plus base is also 11.5" at the longest dimension. Model is 5” high. Please note that the plane has the number #1639 on the underside of the base, while the box and certificate shows #1640.
