The Shark Submarine from Red Rackham’s Treasure is perhaps one of the most iconic images in the Tintin series. Standing alongside the red and white Spaceship from Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon, and the china vase from The Blue Lotus, it’s an image that any Tintin fan will recognize and appreciate.

The submarine makes two appearances in the Tintin series, with the first being in Red Rackham’s Treasure, and the second being Tintin and the Lake of Sharks, an animated film written not by Herge, but rather a close friend of his. For the sake of brevity, I’ll only talk on its first and most famous appearance in the comic.

Inspired by a real American submarine, the Shark Submarine is the brainchild of Professor Calculus, a character who would become one of Tintin’s closest companions. Within the book, it acts first as an irritant for Captain Haddock and Tintin, but later becomes invaluable as they search for The Unicorn, the ship where they believe the treasure of Captain Haddock’s ancestor lies.

The Shark Submarine that we are selling may not be able to take you under the sea, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t just as beautiful as the real thing. Modeled with careful detail, this resin model shows Tintin and Snowy as they dive under the waves, searching for the mysterious treasure of The Unicorn.

10.5" long, 4" wide and 6.25" tall.
